In 1993 we contacted Rick Sudduth of Ashland,
Alabama, about a pup from his upcoming litter. We knew he had bought
Pard and Cola from Gary Ericsson and we wanted a bitch puppy from
that cross. We were lucky - there were only three pups and just one
female, and Rick agreed to let us have her. From the day we brought
her home, she has been a joy and a pleasure. Ricinda is the name of
Rick Sudduth's farm, and we added the name Reba because she is red
headed like Elaine's favorite female singer, Reba McEntire.
Reba
is a dark liver red bitch with very little white. She is a quiet
dog, both around the house and when she works,
but always smiling! Reba is primarily a fetch dog and has a
lot of eye; she will hit head and heels, but only when necessary,
preferring to move stock quietly with her presence. She has an
easy-going disposition and never causes a disturbance; also gets
along well with other dogs and with strangers. Reba's conformation
is very correct, she is moderate coated and boned, has a lot of
substance and very smooth, flowing movement. She is a VERY easy
keeper and at times we appropriately call her "Miss Piggy".
Reba's pedigree contains Hangin' Tree bloodlines,
which are known as some of the best working Aussies in the country,
and on her mother's side she goes back to some of the finest
foundation blood in the breed. Reba is a proven producer of not only
good working dogs, but also of obedience titled offspring. She has
one son who is a certified assistance dog. Reba's puppies are
normally very biddable and easy going like she is. An easy breeder
and whelper and an excellent mother, Reba takes her large litters
completely in stride like she does everything else in life. In fact,
we have to watch her when the other bitches have puppies because she
will try to kidnap them!!

Reba had always been a big helper around the farm,
and then last year Roger decided she needed a chance to prove
herself in the trial arena. So at the ripe old age of 6 1/2 Miss
Reba entered her first working trial and in six runs she had six
qualifying scores and started titles in ducks, sheep, and cattle.
She could easily go farther in competition but at her age, we feel
her most important job is to be "Granny" to all the young dogs. She
really does act like an old Granny. She lives at the house with us,
and is wonderful company.
